ABOUT ENACTUS SFU
“We are a global community of student, academic and business leaders committed to using the power of entrepreneurial action to transform lives and shape a better, more sustainable world.” – enactus.org
Enactus is a global organization that uses entrepreneurial action as a catalyst for progress, taking the concepts of social entrepreneurship and the triple bottom-line to heart. Enactus teams develop innovative programs that address social, environmental and economic needs in the community, in an attempt to improve the livelihoods of others. Enactus acknowledges that there are no boundaries for students who want to be entrepreneurs, meet new people, and share their passions while making a difference in the community. Currently, there are 66,500 students in 1,600 teams across 36 countries around the world.
At Enactus SFU, we seek issues within our community and what others perceive as challenges, we see as opportunities to innovate. With more than 120 active members running 9 sustainable programs, Enactus SFU continues to grow and expand further into the community each year. We help students develop new skills and empower them to become future leaders all while making a positive impact in the community. In the past 5 years, we have dedicated over 73,000 hours to improve the lives of over 6,600 individuals.
At Enactus SFU, We Dare To Do.

In 1991, Jade Bourelle and several other Simon Fraser University students founded the SFU Chapter of ACE. As one of the strongest teams in the early/ mid-nineties, ACE SFU was able to successfully win the national Chapter of the Year award four times and have our name engraved on the Stronach Cup. In 2000, ACE partnered with Students in Free Enterprise (SIFE), the largest, fastest growing not-for-profit student organization in the world. With teams at 1,600 university campuses in 39 countries, the organization has a widespread network of dedicated members. In 2012, Students in Free Enterprise rebranded as Enactus to better highlight and represent the work the organization and its teams carry out. By developing a strong relationship with our school and community, Enactus SFU aims to make a lasting impact in the lives of others by enabling progress through entrepreneurial action.
World Cup 2012, Washington, DC
Each year, Enactus SFU participates in Enactus Canada competitions, which showcase the impact of teams across the country. Categories of competitions include Entrepreneurship, Financial Literacy and Eco-Living Green as well as an all-inclusive Nationals presentation. There are two levels of competitions for Enactus Canada: Regionals and Nationals.
Regionals: teams in the Western, Central and Eastern regionals of Canada come together to compete in the 3 categories. Teams that place first place at Regionals in one of these categories move on to Nationals, which takes place in May.
Nationals: the top 2 teams in each category from each region compete for the national title. Additionally, Enactus chapters across the country prepare a presentation that encompasses their whole team and a national champion is chosen. Each year, participating countries send their national champions to compete at the Enactus World Cup. The event brings together teams from all over the world to share the extraordinary projects they have produced, which have positively impacted millions of individuals around the globe. With the many different cultures of these teams, it is a unique and exciting event where Enactus teams share their passion and commitment to changing the world for the better.
